Knitting Instructions for Barbie’s Knitted Pullover, Skirt, and Contrast Cardigan
PULLOVER
Supplies:
Baby yarn
Needles:
1 set of 4 No. 0 dp knitting needles
1 set of 4 No. 2 dp knitting needles
No. 1 steel crochet hook
** Seed Stitch: Row 1: k 1, p 1 across. Row 2: p 1, k 1 across, having k st over p st & p st over k st.
WAISTBAND: On three No. 0 dp needles, cast on 32 sts (11, 11, 10). Join, work around in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 5 full rounds.
TO CONTINUE: Change to No. 2 dp needles. Work in stockinette st (k each rnd) for next 1-1/4″. Divide sts in half on two needles (16 sts each) for armholes.
UPPER FRONT: Work in stockinette st (k 1 row, p 1 row) for 3/4″.
YOKE: Work in seed st ** for 1/2″. Bind off in seed st on right side.
UPPER LEFT BACK: Join yarn, k 8 sts; turn and p back. Continue stockinette st for 3/4″. Then seed st ** 1/2″ yoke. Bind off in seed st on right side.
UPPER RIGHT BACK: Work same as Left. Join shoulder seams in overcast sts on wrong side.
FINISH: With crochet hook, sc around each sleeve opening. Join yarn to bottom of back opening and sc up right side, around neck and down left side to bottom, making 2 sc in neck corners. End off. Run end in on wrong side.
Sew button to left top of back opening. Fasten with Worked Loop.
SKIRT
Beg at waist with No. 0 dp needles. Cast on 34 sts (11, 11, 12). Join, work in ribbing of k 1, p 1 for 5 rows. Change to No. 2 dp needles.
Work in stockinette st (k each rnd) until work measures 3-3/4″ from start. Work in ribbing (k 1, p 1_ for 1/2″. Bind off loosely in ribbing.
CARDIGAN (with Seed Stitch Yoke and Sleeves)
Supplies:
Baby Yarn
1 set of 2 No. 0 knitting needles
1 set of 2 No. 3 knitting needles
No. 1 steel crochet hook
WAISTBAND: Using No. 0 needles, cast on 36 sts loosely. Rib knit (k 1, p 1) for 1/2″.
TO CONTINUE: Change to No. 3 needles and work in stockinette st (k 1 row, p 1 row_ for 2″ from start, end on p row.
RIGHT FRONT YOKE: Work 10 sts in seed st ** for 1″. Bind off in seed st on right side.
BACK YOKE: Attach yarn at right back. Work 16 sts in seed st ** for 1″. Bind off in seed st on right side.
LEFT FRONT YOKE: Attach yarn and work same as right front yoke.
Join shoulder seams with overcast sts on wrong side.
SLEEVES: Using No.0 Needles, cast on 12 sts loosely. Work in ribbing of k 1, p 1 for 1/2″, inc 1 st at each side of last row – – 14 sts. Change to No. 3 needles. Work seed st ** for 2-1/4″. Bind off loosely in seed st on right side.
Join sleeve seams with overcast sts on wrong side. Join sleeves to armholes with overcast sts on wrong side.
FINISH: Beg at bottom, with crochet hook, sc up right front, around neck edge (making 2 sc at neck corners), down left front and around bottom to starting point.
